Let good things happen! Happy New Year!

Happy new year!  I have officially written 2013 TWICE so far this year, and didn't mess up either time (smug pat on back).  That's probably the only time for the next six months that I won't it up, though, hah!

I have never been a big fan of "New Year Resolutions" as they always seem to be things that are too far out of reach.  It's as if we only continue to make a resolution to keep up the tradition of setting ridiculous goals just to watch them fail.

This year, I plan on making smaller goals that are attainable, and that will improve my life.

1. Clean something.

I can't say that I really dislike cleaning.  It's just, at the end of a work day, I really don't have the energy to clean, or the energy to care!  I used to be a huge stickler on keeping living space clean, but I had a series of horribly messy roommates who pretty much ruined that habit for me (who wants to clean someone else's pile of dirty dishes when you didn't even get to eat any of it?!).  Long story short, I'm ok with my house looking like 5 children live here, even though there are zero children living here.  =)  Cleaning ONE thing up a day is pretty darn attainable, I think, and it will go a long way in helping me feel happier about letting people inside my house.

2. Put something away.

I'm TERRIBLE about putting things away.  If I'm just going to use it later, why bother?  I'll tell you why: suddenly there's a mountain of STUFF on the coffee table, end table, couch, dining table, papasan chair, counter!  Why did I bring the tweezers out here again?

3. Organize something.

Going along with the putting something away - I need to organize the places that I put those things.  My spare room (also craft supply storage room) was once an adorable room with my things neatly put away, the bed made, the bed skirt sweetly hiding the junk I've stuffed under the bed.  Eight projects later, and it looks like we just moved and stuffed everything we owned in there.  Part of this organization requires more of those cute plastic cubbies from Ikea.  Yes.... Ikea.... drool....

4. MAKE SOMETHING PRETTY!!

This is the fun goal (obviously).  I love crafting, and I love Pinterest!  I also categorize my gardening under this one - because a garden brings so much beauty to the world!

UPDATE (1/6/13):

5.  Do one exercise!

I'm great at working out!  When I get around to it...... I want to make sure that I do at least one type of exercise (arms, squats, something) every day, especially if it's a day I don't make it to the gym!
